Escape from the "Red Star"

(Autobiography of Rudolph F. Papp)

This shows the name of the high school to which I registered in the autumn of 1959.

In high school, I met two new friends on whose shoulders I am standing on the picture. They were studying visual arts just like me. We enjoyed each others' company and, together, we were a great team when it came to making commotions such as chasing girls, drinking, streetfighting and so on.

When I was barely seventeen years of age, after having an argument with my parents, I left home to live on the street. I found shelter in an abandoned box car outside of the city. There were a few box cars around housing a community of hobos from whom I learned lots of techniques and tips on the art of street survival. Living on the street made me tough and self-reliant and I even managed to complete my high school education with good grades as can be seen from my high school certificate below.

This section shows some photographs by which I want to illustrate my life style after I left my parents' house. If you wish to have more information on the stories behind these pictures, please email me to find out how to get it.
